Every story starts
with a submission.
SVN accepts original video content from credentialed contributors. Before your footage reaches an audience, it travels through a rigorous 6-step verification pipeline — designed to protect both the public and your reputation.
Submission portal coming soon
The full submission portal is being built for Phase 3 of SVN's launch. For now, you can apply to become a founding contributor — early members will get first access to the submission pipeline when it opens.
Apply to be a founding contributor →What SVN Accepts
SVN is a platform for original, primary-source video journalism. We don't republish clips. We verify originals.
Original Social Video
Video captured and uploaded directly by the journalist or eyewitness — not reposted, re-edited, or aggregated from other sources.
Original Field Footage
Raw footage from the field: protest coverage, disaster response, conflict documentation, investigative captures. The less edited, the better.
Eyewitness Content
Video shot by a verified eyewitness to a newsworthy event, submitted with full context: who, what, when, where, and how the footage was obtained.
Verified Secondary Sources
In limited cases, footage from other platforms may be submitted if the original source is clearly documented and the chain of custody is intact.
What We Do Not Accept
- ✕Screen recordings of other people's social media posts
- ✕Video with no verifiable metadata or chain of custody
- ✕Content where the submitter is not the original source
- ✕Anything AI-generated or synthetic, regardless of disclosure
- ✕Promotional or sponsored content of any kind
What Happens After You Submit
Your footage enters a structured verification pipeline. Here's exactly what it goes through.
Initial Intake
0–15 minYour submission is logged with a timestamp and assigned a case ID. Metadata is extracted automatically from the file and cross-referenced with your submission notes.
Deepfake & Manipulation Detection
15–45 minAI systems analyze the video at the frame level for signs of synthetic generation, post-production manipulation, or digital alteration. Flagged content is escalated immediately.
Metadata & Geolocation Review
45 min–2 hrsEXIF data, GPS coordinates, and embedded metadata are extracted and cross-referenced with satellite imagery, weather records, and known event timelines to confirm time and place.
Source Credibility Assessment
1–3 hrsYour contributor profile, track record, and stated chain of custody are reviewed. For new contributors, this step may involve a brief editorial call.
Human Editorial Review
2–4 hrsA senior SVN editor reviews all AI outputs, makes contextual judgments the system can't, and either approves the video for publication or returns it with specific questions.
Publish or Return
Upon approvalApproved videos publish with a full SVN Verification Badge and public trust record. Rejected videos are returned with a detailed explanation — not just a binary pass/fail.
